8 May 2023The Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC) has been invited by the University of the South Pacific Students’ Association (USPSA) to chair a session at the upcoming Pacific Conference on Governance in Auckland, New Zealand. The PCRIC CEO, Mr. Aholotu Palu, will represent the company at the event.
The cordial invitation extended by USPSA to PCRIC reflects the culmination of an effective and strategic partnership between the two regional institutions. This collaboration is dedicated to advancing a greater understanding of their pivotal roles in addressing the pressing issue of climate change through climate resilience and disaster risk financing across the Pacific.
Most importantly, this conference demonstrates the indispensable contribution of the youth demographic as a key element in the encompassing solution at policy-making levels. The emphasis placed on the inclusion of youth signifies a commitment to shaping a brighter and more sustainable future both regionally and nationally. Platforms such as this will empower the younger generation with the knowledge required to tackle climate change challenges with confidence.
PCRIC believes that involving youth in these initiatives will not only cultivate political champions in the region, but will help shape their outlook towards practical policy interventions and instill a sense of responsibility towards the future.
The USPSA is co-hosting the event in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Pacific Office in Fiji.
