10 July 2023The Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC) is delighted to announce its formal invitation to join the Coordination Hub of the Global Shield against Climate Risks. The Global Shield initiative’s mission is to fortify the global climate and disaster risk finance and insurance (CDRFI) architecture, ensuring enhanced financial protection for vulnerable countries.
As a member of the Coordination Hub, PCRIC will contribute technical support and facilitate global coordination in the realm of CDRFI. It is noteworthy that the Coordination Hub comprises other esteemed organizations involved in the CDRFI field.
With the successful establishment of the Global Shield’s organizational framework, the forthcoming focus lies on undertaking in-country projects in select pathfinder countries and implementing cross-country approaches. The inaugural regular briefing meeting of the Coordination Hub is scheduled for next week, representing an important milestone in this collective endeavor.
PCRIC eagerly awaits the official onboarding process into the Coordination Hub and is committed to actively engaging in its activities and pursuits. This opportunity will undoubtedly enable PCRIC to strengthen its role in promoting climate resilience and disaster risk management within the Pacific region.
