22 July 2023PCRIC Meets with the Tongan Minister of Finance During FEMM
9 August 2023The Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC) was invited to attend the inaugural Pacific Loss and Damage Dialogue held in Apia, Samoa. PCRIC’s Regional Coordinator, Ms. Akosita Drova, represented the company.
The impacts of L&D as a result of climatic weather conditions, such as tropical cyclones, floods, and droughts, can be far-reaching and devastating. These extreme weather events have the potential to cause immense damage to infrastructure, disrupt communities, and lead to the loss of lives and livelihoods.
The aftermath of such events often leaves communities struggling to recover and rebuild, with long-term consequences on their social, economic, and environmental well-being. Addressing the challenges posed by L&D is essential to safeguarding vulnerable regions and fostering resilience in the face of a changing climate.
The workshop served as an exceptional platform to showcase PCRIC’s comprehensive services for L&D financing, demonstrating its capability to bridge crucial gaps within the region. Additionally, the event provided valuable insights into the specific needs of Pacific Island countries, enabling PCRIC to further enhance its support and tailor solutions to meet the unique challenges they face.
The event was hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment (SPREP) and Climate Analytics.
