PCRIC Chair Meets with the PIFS SG

While in Fiji, Ms. Sarah Jane Wild, the Chair of the Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC) along with the Management Team, recently paid a courtesy call to Mr. Henry Puna, the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.

During this engagement, the Chair and the team provided Mr. Puna with a comprehensive briefing on several crucial fronts. They illuminated the current array of PCRIC’s parametric insurance products, shedding light on the imminent introduction of two innovative offerings tailored for drought and excess rainfall.

Additionally, the Chair and team highlighted the infusion of donor funds from Germany earmarked for premium subsidies, underlining PCRIC’s commitment to equitable accessibility of its services.

Moreover, the Secretary General was apprised of a strategic initiative on the horizon. PCRIC, in collaboration with the University of the South Pacific (USP) and the Centre for Disaster Protection (CDP), is poised to co-host a regional disaster risk finance workshop later in the year. This significant event holds the promise of becoming a platform for dynamic knowledge exchange and the fostering of enhanced capacity within the disaster risk management domain.
