10 August 2024PCRIC recently participated in Global Shield’s inaugural Fiji workshop tackling climate risks. Held in Suva, the two-day workshop saw key local and international stakeholders given an impressive introduction to the Global Shield initiative highlighting its objectives and available support services.
Also on the agenda was a review of Fiji’s current Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance (CDRFI) positioning that was designed to determine possible gaps and identify future opportunities. Participants actively engaged in discussions and through specialised training, they gained a deeper understanding of Fiji’s CDRFI status.
Additionally, as part of its partnership with the Global Shield, PCRIC’s Regional Co-ordinator, Ms. Akosita Drova and Chief Risk Officer, Mr. Richard Poulter, both presented on a general case study of Fiji and the potential solutions offered to close financial protection gaps. Their presentation also included PCRIC’s parametric insurance for disasters along with a comprehensive overview of their portfolio and activities.
