PCRIC Attends the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa
23 October 2024Since its inception in 2016, PCRIC has significantly expanded its footprint in the Pacific, with membership expanded to eight countries: Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands and Vanuatu. This growth has created a pressing need for increased operational, capital, and premium subsidy support.
PCRIC Finance Manager, Mr. Pankaj Singh met with Ms. Rebecca Lawlor, Deputy Director of the Office of Climate and Environment, and Ms. Emma Kamb, Economic Research Analyst, at the margins of the 2024 World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings. The discussions were positive, with the US Treasury team impressed by PCRIC’s growing prominence and the increasing demand for its products in bolstering resilience in the Pacific.
PCRIC will continue to engage with the US Treasury to identify ways to leverage on this strong momentum including securing the necessary funding to support PCRIC’s mission of building climate and disaster resilience in the Pacific region.
