PCRIC Makes Impact at ADB Climate Insurance Forum
29 October 2024PCRIC Meets with Canadian Representative
31 October 2024PCRIC recently received another vote of confidence in its lead position in DRF solutions for Pacific Islands nations when approached by the Climate Finance Capacity Support Programme (CFCSP). Funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), CFCSP was keen to explore the possibility of collaboration on work being undertaken in Nauru on development of a Drought Response Plan. This is seen as a very positive progression on top of an earlier mission this year to Nauru by PCRIC where the benefits of a tailored parametric insurance policy covering drought was discussed, along with DRF education and capacity building opportunities.
CFCSP’s assistance with building greater levels of resilience to climate change and disasters amongst the PICs and in particular, the development of drought response plans, was applauded by PCRIC as a truly positive initiative of benefit to the region. Not only did it offer scope for effective collaboration, but it also introduced a further pool of expertise and perspectives which inevitably would assist in developing more innovative solutions to address the financial impact from disasters.
