26 February 2025The final two days of the 2025 Climate and Disaster Risk Finance Workshop in Nadi provided a focused technical deep dive into disaster exposure modelling and risk assessment. Designed for technical practitioners and government specialists, these sessions explored risk modelling, data analysis, and financial decision-making tools to enhance disaster risk financing strategies in the Pacific.
Key areas covered included:

- Hands-on exposure modelling using real-world Pacific case studies
- Risk assessment frameworks for tropical cyclones, earthquakes, and extreme rainfall
- Exploring global risk models and their application to regional disaster financing
This collaboration will help us to better coordinate and deliver cost-competitive solutions to further our region’s resilience. These sessions equipped participants with practical skills and insights to improve national and regional disaster risk management strategies.
PCRIC CEO, Aholotu Palu noted, “Investing in risk data and modelling today will help protect communities and economies across the Pacific in the years to come.”
With stronger technical capacity, the Pacific is taking another step towards financial resilience and preparedness in the face of climate challenges.
Thank you to all the experts, facilitators, and attendees for making this a success.
