PCRCI Attends Inaugural Innovations Islands Summit – Colombo, Sri Lanka

PCRIC was invited to participate in the inaugural Innovation Islands Summit which was held from the 20th – 21st February in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The summit aimed to examine innovative solutions for accelerated development and growth of islands economies and other states.

Organised around five pillars including Climate Change, Adaptation and Energy Transition, deliberations covered connectivity and infrastructure, finance and investment, emerging technologies, the blue economy, energy and green imperatives, and the role of women and youth as change-makers.

The summit provided an opportunity for PCRIC to share how its parametric insurance helped island nations balance climate resilience with long-term economic growth. PCRIC’s presentation also addressed how the Company envisioned a more integrated approach between disaster risk financing, such as insurance, and the achievement of climate-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) pursued by island nations in the region.

Through these discussions, the summit aspires to promote a stronger ethic of collaboration among stakeholders across diverse geographies and sectors. Organisers’ expectations are that the Innovation Island Summit will become a premier international event focused on innovation, and a flagship forum for island states and other nations to enter into dialogue and build partnerships.
