PCRIC Participates in Tonga’s National Development Summit
24 March 2025Suva, Fiji: Led by CEO Mr. Aholotu Palu, representatives of PCRIC met recently with Ms. Andie Fong Toy, Head UNESCAP Subregional Office for the Pacific and Ms. Lee Everts, Senior Economic Affairs Officer and Deputy Head as part of PCRIC’s continuing efforts to promote awareness of the significance of broad-based disaster risk financing support for the region’s disaster-prone nations.
PCRIC showcased its expanding role in the provision of insurance-based disaster risk finance instruments to both national governments and, more recently, select state-owned enterprises as well as NGO’s. The CEO shared on the growing demand for PCRIC’s products and services which acted to fill market gaps left by commercial insurers.
Discussions acknowledged the negative impact that natural and climate-induced disasters had on regional development and the need for robust financing mechanisms to help undergird and preserve efforts toward achieving enduring, sustainable development.
Parties explored opportunities for potential collaborations which would contribute to a more disaster resilient future for the region
