PCRIC Team Attends Global Shield Pacific Regional Workshop in Suva
14 April 2025The PCRIC team, led by CEO Mr. Aholotu Palu, will participate in the 2025 Climate Risk Finance Forum from April 10th to 11th at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in Germany. Following the Risk Pools CEO Summit, this forum focuses on premium subsidies for climate risk insurance, operationalising the SMART principles (Sustainable impact for the most vulnerable, value for Money, Accessibility, Resilience-building initiatives, and Transparency and consistency) to enhance resilience across vulnerable regions.
The event gathers the four regional risk pools (PCRIC, CCRIF, ARC and SEADRIF) alongside academics, think tanks, premium support institutions, ministerial representatives from Global Shield partner countries, industry practitioners, and donor community members. Together, they will tackle pressing questions shaping the future of climate risk financing. These discussions include:
- How can premium support bridge affordability gaps while fostering systemic resilience?
- What strategies ensure equitable targeting aligned with development goals?
- Innovative approaches, such as decision matrices, will also be explored to streamline allocation and ensure long-term viability.
PCRIC’s presence underscores its commitment to pioneering financial solutions for Pacific Island nations that face escalating climate threats. The forum offers a platform to refine strategies that deliver rapid, equitable support to disaster-prone communities. Mr. Palu remarked, “This event builds on our regional mandate and serves to drive collaboration necessary to secure sustainable financing for climate resilience.”
Supported by donors Germany, the UK, Japan, and the US, PCRIC continues to lead in parametric insurance, safeguarding development gains across the Pacific. Insights from the forum will inform actionable outcomes and strengthen the region’s capacity to withstand climate challenges.
