PCRIC Engages at 5th Asia Finance Forum to Strengthen Pacific Disaster Risk Financing

PCRIC participated actively at the Pacific Islands Telecommunication Association (PITA) Forum for Chief Financial Officers (CFO) in Apia, Samoa. At the event, PCRIC showcased how parametric insurance can safeguard critical telecom infrastructure, even when traditional insurance is unavailable or is prohibitively expensive.
The conference allowed CFOs of Pacific telecoms companies to explore strategic transformation and innovation for digital and climate-resilient infrastructure. PCRIC highlighted its bespoke parametric insurance products, including the submarine fibre cable policies developed for PNG Data Co, Tonga Cable Ltd, Tonga Communications Corporation, and the Solomon Islands Submarine Cable Company.
As part of the event, a risk management and disaster contingency workshop allowed PCRIC to demonstrate how its financial protection instruments safeguard key telecom infrastructure, providing rapid funds after damaging natural hazard events to help to speed up the restoration of critical services for the citizens of Pacific Island Countries.
The mission team also engaged with delegations from Palau, Tonga, Samoa, and the Solomon Islands on the broader suite of PCRIC’s products, with a mission to Palau now planned for early 2026.
