PCRIC was pleased to accept the invitation of His Excellency, President David W.R. Adeang to attend the 2026 Nauru Independence Day celebrations. Held annually on 31 January, the day proudly marks the nation’s move from joint administration to sovereignty in 1968, and the return from Chuck at the end of WWII.
This invitation comes as PCRIC and Nauru work to conclude dialogue on the provision of protection against the significant financial impact of drought on the small nation.
Once concluded, Nauru will become the 11th PCRIC member nation, joining the growing group of regional island nations which have bought into the unique value proposition offered by parametric disaster risk insurance.
As a member of PCRIC, beyond insurance coverage Nauru will also gain access to a wealth of technical knowledge and resources, as well as a range of capacity building and education initiatives aimed to advance understanding and capabilities in disaster risk management.
