Upscaling Climate Risk Protection through Collaboration
2 March 2026As the regional leader in delivering DRF solutions, PCRIC remains ever vigilant in pursuit of innovative pathways to secure the best possible outcomes for Pacific Island nations. Recently, dialogue was opened between PCRIC and representatives of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to explore the potential for partnership opportunities.
During the dialogue, PCRIC reflected on the unique positioning it held in the regional DRF landscape, noting that its now well-established platform could offer distinct benefits for advancing reach and access to GCF funds.
The engagement enabled PCRIC to share its Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and Business Plan 2026-2028, and highlight the organisation’s recent growth, reflecting rising demand from member countries for specialised risk financing solutions and related technical support. Discussions underscored the value of scalable climate finance mechanisms that can translate quickly into practical resilience outcomes for at-risk developing economies.
There are plans for continued dialogue with the Green Climate Fund as it works to deepen collaborations that help Pacific nations better manage the fiscal impacts of climate and disaster shocks.
