The Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC) team was invited by the InsuResilience Global Partnership, to attend a side event at COP27 hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Germany. The side event was held at the German Pavilion.
The event theme was ‘No Protection without Social Protection: Social Protection as Part of the Global Shield against Climate Risks’. Panelists primarily focused their discussions on how adaptive social protection, as part of the Global Shield, can protect vulnerable people against climate risks and reduce climate-related loss and damages. This is especially true when these protections are integrated in a comprehensive approach and linked to other climate risk finance at country level.
PCRIC provides adaptive protection and works hard with sovereign nations to offer expertise on implementing diversified risk financing solutions.
This side event was a precursor to the official launch of the Global Shield against Climate Risks scheduled for Monday, 14th November.
