Michael is the founder and principal of MCA NZ Limited, actuaries & consultants, and specialises in providing strategic investment advice to charities, Iwi, superannuation schemes and other organisations. The focus is on the development of strategic policy advice and how best to implement investment policies.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland and is a Fellow of the New Zealand Society of Actuaries and of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK.
Michael has over 40 years consulting experience and is known for his pragmatic approach to explaining investing and investments and is recognised for his ability to communicate complex issues in day-to-day language.
He was also the co-founder of the SuperLife superannuation and KiwiSaver schemes. SuperLife is now part of Smartshares and NZX, the manager of the New Zealand Stock Exchange, having been sold by Michael to NZX Limited in 2015.
Prior to establishing MCA in 1998, Michael worked for Watson Wyatt (now Willis Tower Watson) and its predecessor firms in New Zealand for 17 years and Victory Reinsurance in the UK.
