PCRIC CEO, Mr. Aholotu Palu, took the opportunity to recently meet in Suva with the Canadian High Commission’s Head of Cooperation for the Pacific Mission, Mr. David Fournier. With Canada as a contributor of US$1.1m to the PCRAFI project that established PCRIC in 2016, the meeting served as a welcome refresher for both parties given the significant advances in PCRIC’s operations in recent years.
Also covered in the discussions were PCRIC’s plans for further product development; the development of resources to enhance education on DRM throughout the region in collaboration with the GSSP; and the pressing need for additional policy premium financing to ensure access to pre-arranged DRM solutions by the most vulnerable of nations. The importance of the products and services provided by PCRIC was acknowledged, as was Canada’s ongoing interest in supporting initiatives aimed at addressing resilience to the impact of climate change for the Pacific’s Island nations.
