David Traill

Over the past 20 years, David has held multiple leadership and trusted advisor roles within the international development, insurance industry and water safety sector. This experience has given him a deep understanding of how to build the capability for organisations to deliver meaningful change and to be resilient in the face of the unexpected and how insurance can best serve the needs of the communities they seek to protect.
David’s vision is to tackle the challenges of insurance affordability and access in developed and emerging economies through the development of alternative approaches to insurance services, disaster risk financing, risk management capacity building and community education. His career roles have included senior management and governance, insurance & disaster risk technical advice, actuarial and technical modelling, risk & change management; business analytics; and strategic planning.
When he is not too busy with work, David loves to explore the oceans surrounding New Zealand and the South Pacific, and is an active surf lifeguard and open water swimming guide and serves in local governance roles within the water safety sector. David holds a BCom (Marketing major, Finance minor)/BSc (Statistics & Psychology majors) from the University of Auckland. He also served as the CEO for PCRIC from January to September 2018.
